We all know that mythological creatures play a major role in the world of Equestria. We also know that the real life myths and the Equestrian counterparts don't always match up perfectly. In Greco-Roman mythology, Tartarus is the land of the dead; in Equestria, it houses dark creatures. In Aztec mythology, the ahuizotl lives near the water and feasts on human flesh (especially eyes, nails, and teeth). In Equestria, Ahuizotl is a weird hybrid of that and the eighth Aztec ruler of the same
Here's a puzzler for all those interested in Equestrian fauna (and those who fall into the "Lyra-is-obsessed-with-humans" crowd might want to take notes, too).
As we all know, the land of Equestria is a host to many mythical creatures (and no, I'm not talking about the pegasi and unicorns). There are dragons, phoenixes, griffons, minotaurs, and many more besides that live in this land of ponies.
